West Indies vs South Africa
STUMPS, 1st Test, Gros Islet, Jun 10 - 14 2021,
West Indies 97 & 82/4 South Africa 322
Day 2 - West Indies trail by 143 runs. CRR: 2.73
Quinton De Kock proved the be the hero for South Africa after going through a barren spell in recent times. He scored his highest test total of 141 not out. During his celebration he presented the word 'Rockwood' on his bat which is the name of a Rhino conservation initiative that he supports. He also paid tribute to a friend who's finger got shot off in Afghanistan. De Kock was supported by Wiaan Mulder who made 25 runs. Wiaan came into the squad with great expectations weighing heavily on his young shoulders carrying the label of the next Kallis. It is unfair towards any cricketer to be compared to the great Jacques Kallis. We wish Wiaan all the best.
The Protea bowlers hit the same good areas as in the first innings. The Dukes cricket ball really zipped off the pitch. The amount of movement was unbelievable at times. It was impossible to count how many times the West Indies batsman played and missed. The ball seemed difficult to control because of the excessive movement. Can't wait to see what happens today. I predict that day 3 is going to be the last day of this test.
